Nearby Faraway is a new, immersive, dramatic musical biography of Georgia O’Keeffe, America’s favorite painter, and Alfred Stieglitz, the Father of Modern Photography, with full rights now available for production.

Georgia O’Keeffe (1888-1986) remains America’s favorite visual artist -- fiercely independent, an early feminist and the most photographed female artist of the 20th century -- whose art, posters and calendars still earn millions annually.

But we would hardly know her name if not for Alfred Stieglitz, who promoted and exploited her “woman’s vision” through his galleries, photography and management. This drama of power struggles and mutual inspiration pits two larger-than-life artists against media celebrity and gender issues of modern romance in a beautiful, high-class musical.

Transformative! raves the Lake George Mirror.

This true, modern love story follows the world’s first Power Couple -- the most written-about couple of the 20th century -- from discovery to world-class success, affairs and breakdowns.

Composed by International Alliance for Women in Music award-winner Catherine Reid, with book and lyrics, based on 12 years of research, by playwright Neal Herr.

Animated projections by Jonathan Phelps feature O’Keeffe-inspired art and public domain Stieglitz photographs, immersing singers and dancers in the world of their artistic imaginations as they traverse an artist’s journey to fame, fortune and soul. This Equity workshop production garnered standing ovations from sold-out houses and rave reviews, with grants from:

Warren County Tourism • Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Commission • Glens Falls Foundation • Stewart’s Shops • Touba Family Foundation • Cloudsplitter Foundation • Adirondack Foundation • Charles R. Wood Foundation • Town and Village of Lake George • and many private donors.
